Happy New Year!
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a safe and joyous New Year. Jenny the kids and I have been happy to have Mom, Paul, Maria and Tom over for the holidays. It felt more like home having them over. Nevertheless, the holidays can't help but make you homesick. We miss all of you at home and can't wait to see you this coming summer.
Otherwise, all is going well. Even with four extra people in the apartment it was cozy and never crowded. Mom has showed us how to butcher some of the big slaps of meat they sell at the market and Jenny has a few more recipes for her repertoire. Paulie and Maria were able to spend a lot of time with the kids. Simon, Felicity, and Sebastian love the attention they are getting from their aunt, uncles and Staramama. Tom was able to visit a brew pub here in Kazakhstan. It's been great fun.
Below are pictures of the family having fun around Almaty as well as some pictures of our trip to Charyn Canyon last Fall while we still had the car. I'll try to update more often as a New Year's resolution. Because of the late updates the pictures are out of order. A blog requires one to be more timely. A quality I lack. Regardless, I will attempt to update it more often.
Please e-mail us at gjsedmak@yahoo.com. Yahoo seems to be more reliable than Hotmail on this side of the world. You can add us to MSN Messenger by typing in our Hotmail e-mail, gjsedmak@hotmail.com. Messenger seems to work well. We really enjoy your messages of support and will try to e-mail all those who send a message. If we hadn't e-mailed back, please know we appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
When we had the car accident, Kazakhstan never felt more foreign. The lack of assistance from the police and the other driver's equivocations made us feel like outsiders. However, we are fortunate to have so many people here who helped and supported us through the ordeal. From the embassy guards who helped us immediately after the accident to the school's assistance, as well as the support of friends and colleagues. We appreciate all of the help and we want everyone at home to know that the kids, Jenny and I are well.
Our school put our picture up on the website recently, it is at http://www.qsi.org/KAZ/newteach.htm. You can check the school website at http://www.qsi.org/KAZ/.
Have a great New Year everyone. We love you all.
Greg, Jenny, Simon, Felcity and Sebastian.
